Molokini is Maui's #1 snorkeling destination. Its crystal clear water, beautiful fish and unique scenery make Molokini epic for snorkeling and diving activities year around. Molokini is located 3 miles off the coast of South Maui. It is a Hawaii state marine life conservation district, home to more than 250 species of fish, many of which are endemic to this location. Manta rays, eels, harmless white tip and gray reef sharks also frequent the area. Molokini is also a bird sanctuary.
South Maui Turtle town is located off the Kihei shoreline near the area referred to as Makena Landing. Turtle Town is said to be a cleaning station for the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. A turtles shell can be over run by algae and other parasitic marine life. Regular cleaning is essential to their health and well being. Here turtles relax and have their shells cleaned by the local angelfish, tangs, wrasse and other algae eating fish that live amongst the coral.
Obviously pictures are a must on your Molokini snorkel adventure. How about underwater pictures? Look no further. We rent the high quality Olympus Tough underwater digital camera right on the boat. At 16 megapixels, these cameras offer unlimited video and still photos and are excellent at capturing fish, turtle and family members for later display on your Facebook page. $40 Rental Fee, includes DVD with all your pictures and video.
Our 3mm wetsuits are not only great for keeping warm during snorkeling, they are also great flotation devices and they provide 100% uv sun protection. No need to reserve one early. We have plenty available on the boat. $10 for adults and children.
Quicksilver features 4 glass viewing panels so you can see the marine life right through the bottom of the boat. This is a great option for people who do not intend on getting in the water but still want to take a peek at the reef. On rare occasions whales have been seen swimming under the boat on our whale watch tours.
Need a quick way into the water? Do your kids need entertainment? Look no further than the Quicksilver's waterslide. Its is located on the back of the boat next to our easy staircase into and out of the water so you and your kids can go around and around, down the slide and up the stairs, repeat to infinity and beyond!
This is the second time we took the 8 hour snorkelling cruise with Calypso Molokini Snorkel Maui. The Captain and his crew are friendly and knowledgeable. They are very conscientious of maritime safety for people and the marine animals. We saw several whales last time but due to calving season being over, none this time. Lots of beautiful fish and sea turtles. Breakfast and lunch are served on board and are quite enjoyable. The snokeling at Molikini was wonderful and had a great time at Turtle town too. A beautiful way to spend a day on the ocean and enjoy Maui. We'll be back next time we're on Maui.
This tour has turtle power! We booked this tour via our hotel concierge who gave us some great trips. The cruise leaves from Maalaea Harbor which is 45mins from Kaanapali. The boat leaves from slip 44 which is on the far side of the harbor. If you park near the boat it will cost you $12 for paid parking. We parked near the Aquarium for free which is only 5mins walk to slip 44. Calypso Molokini Snorkel is skippered by Brok who gives a fantastic talk about the islands and historical facts. Nice breakfast and lunch is served buffet style and a cheap bar with $2 beers and cocktails. This tour stops at two snorkel spots - Turtle Town where we saw over 12 different turtles and an abundance of fish. After and hour we sailed to Molokini which is a portion of an old volcano submerged in water. No turtles here but plenty of fish. Wetsuits are available at $3 and equipment is clean and in good working order. There is a morning trip departing at 6.45am or afternoon at 1.30pm. Go the morning as its less windy and great visability.
Saw some great fish, corals, whales and of course turtles! Captain and crew were wonderful.. Know just where To go and advise on specific areas to stay in for best viewing. Also how to keep everyone safe. Nice continental breakfast to start off on the way to molikini. If you get a little woozy they have ginger ale and instant dramamine on hand. We had an u expected whale sighting. Captain heard they were In the area from another boat so he stopped and just hung out for a bit and sure enough we spotted them. May 5th is kinda late so I didn't expect whales at all and there were two. Saw them fairly close along the top of water and rolling down to dive we saw their tails flip up out of the water. Super exciting. Lots of different fish species at molikini but a little crowded with people. Went to turtle town next and there were a bunch of turtles, huge. The coral in this spot is amazing. Tons of finger coral. Snorkeling from shore u just don't see this kind of coral and so abundant. On the ride back they served lunch. Simple, but pulled pork was great. Highly recommend the Mai tai too. They make them from scratch, not mix. Overall a great morning we were really glad we did it, and we don't usually do tours, preferring to explore on our own. This was a good one.
Loved, loved, loved it. We had such an amazing experience the staff was so awesome and friendly. We got there really early so we got the best seats. If you...

Great food, great music, saw ALOT of fish and tons of dolphins!!! 🐬 I would definitely recommend this to friends. Ps, $2 drinks= THE BEST
Just returned from the Lanai snorkel tour. It was fantastic!!!! Our crew was very helpful and patient with me, helping me with my mask, (I’m claustrophobic) and the wet suit. I especially appreciated that they had lifeguards in the water with us, in case of any emergency. The time allotted for snorkeling was just right. A good Breakfast was ready as soon as we got on board and lunch was just as good. The crew was knowledgeable and did a great job keeping us informed as to what to expect as the day unfolded. Our captain went out of his way to allow us the time to whale watch and it was spectacular! What a beautiful day on the ocean. Clean boat, great captain and crew, good food. Great job, Calypso Molokini Snorkel!!!
Lanai Snorkeling...saw whales, dolphins, turtles, fish, great food, great music, friendly crew. Captain is very entertaining. Stopped for whales. Stopped for dolphins. Awesome trip!
This is the 1st time I have reviewed anything. I felt compelled to write a review based on the bad review I read about this Boat and crew. We did the Lanai snorkel cruise. This is an amazing crew! I have been to Maui a few times and always taken a cruise when here. This is the first time I booked a "larger" boat, and was worried it would be a over packed boat and spoil my day. It did not! This crew is "AMAZING"! Very professional and personal. We were out on the unfortunate day when the accidental alert was sent calling all boats back to harbor. This crew remained calm and in touch with the guests and kept our day from being ruined. We saw more whales, dolphins and sea life than I have ever seen before and the cruise was not rushed due to the morning being interrupted. I would recommend this boat and her crew with confidence. Their food was good and plentiful and the drinks were a bargain. My tip doubled my tab and to be honest should have been more. These people are fantastic and really want you to have a memorable trip with them. Thanks again.
To be honest, the snorkeling tour was mediocre. First the pros: 1. We saw pod of dolphins swimming. 2. Reasonable breakfast and lunch. 3. Chopppy, but ok ride to and from. They give medicines for the potential seasick candidates. Now the disappointing factors: 1. The snorkeling location (off of lighthouse in Lanai) is mediocre at the best. Not much to see a few fishes of the same type here and there. No big schools of fish that I am used to see while snorkeling in Mexico. I honestly saw better variety off of Kapalua beach (including eels and a turtle) on our own. 2. The crew was overly aggressive in the use of floatation devices. In my past snorkeling trips, I've had only one floatation device under the belly. Here they made me put a life vest + one pool noodle under arms and one pool noodle to hold with both hands. I am 160 pounds... That arrangement could float a whale! And my hands were not free to take video/picture. 3. They made my wife so scared about safety (she's a swimmer, just not a strong one) that she chickened out taking our 3 year old for snorkeling even with both of them wearing life vest. The vest + 2 pool noodles + a floatation device for kid + the child itself is too much to handle. In addition they insisted on our 10 year old (who is a strong swimmer) to take care of the little one, since we were 'not strong swimmers'. Net net, my wife and little one missed the snorkeling. 4. Snorkeling time was advertised to be 90minutes, but we got only an hour. Not a big deal since there was nothing much to see anyway. 5. They also tell the non swimmers to stay near the boat, from where you can't see anything. Not sure why they insist that since they were wearing vests + noodles too. Overall I've had much better snorkeling experiences than this. If you are still keen, check where they are going to take you. The lighthouse place was a disappointment.
