Snorkel cruise today to Olowalu reef. The crew was excellent and extremely attentive. We saw excellent Humpback Whale action on the way to and from Olowalu Reef. The crew members were very knowledgeable about the whale behavior we witnessed. The grilled chicken, brown rice and salad lunch was very good. Plenty of food to go around. The snorkeling on the reef was awesome. We saw sea turtles hanging out in the "cleaning station". I recommend this trip to others and will do this again myself in the future. Please protect the reefs and enjoy the beauty that Maui offers.
We had too little time on Maui to be able to take a whole day or longer trip. However, we did opt for one of their half-day excursions (to Olowalu) and it was brilliant. We really wish we’d been able to take a longer trip! Captain Emily and her crew were extremely welcoming and attentive. We were very lucky that the day we went out it was a relatively quiet trip, meaning the catamaran felt extremely spacious and rather luxurious. This was also helped by the friendly crew and delicious cinnamon rolls served up as we made our way to the snorkelling destination. Once at the reef, we had the memorable experience of swimming with sea turtles, as well as getting to see a whole array of brightly coloured fish on the coral. All the equipment and tutorials from the crew were excellent (one of us had never snorkelled before, but felt very confident after help from the crew). On the return sail, the food and drink were flowing (including beer and cocktails, plus plenty of other non-alcoholic beverages). The food was to a much higher standard than we had anticipated! All in all, the whole trip has left us with friendly memories of this holiday. Swimming with turtles has felt like an amazing privilege! We would love to return to Maui again in the future, and if we do we would definitely book another sailing.
We've done the Excursions tour to Laini a few times and have really enjoyed it. We've recommended it to many - who have also done it and enjoyed it. This time we decided to do the snorkeling trip to Olowalu. It was awesome! Of course the boat and crew were excellent - as we knew they would be. We happened to do this on April Fools Day / Easter. The weather and water were amazing - which always helps. We spent some time cleaning up a large snag just outside of the harbor before settling sail for the reef. We'd heard the reef was great snorkeling - and we've been to most of the best places around - and now we have a new favorite. This was unbelievable - like an aquarium. We saw all the usual (except dolphins for some reason). At first they played down the likelihood of seeing whales - and by the time we were done we had to navigate between them to get back! Again, this turned out to be one of the highlights on our trip to Maui.
We booked the Discover Kaanapali tour about three weeks before our scheduled Maui vacation. They called us and let us know that that tour was no longer...
Absolutely the best. Great crew, hats off to Dave for his quick wit and storytelling throughout our voyage. We got everything. Whale watching, snorkeling...
