One swift google search and you’ll find a wide variety of luaus on Maui to choose from. All of the luaus have something unique to offer, but if we had to name what we believe is the best luau on Maui it would have to be
Feast at Lele for its delicious farm to table Hawaiian and Polynesian cuisine, authentic and exciting demonstrations of hula, and private, romantic table service.
But before we get into our full list of recommendations, you may be wondering about some of the most frequently asked questions we receive about luaus.
What do I need to know before going to a luau?
Hawaiian luaus today symbolize celebrations such as births and weddings but that wasn’t always the case. Understanding the
history of Hawaiian luaus will allow you to engage with the local culture and people, while respecting cultural values.
Do all the luaus have fire dancers?
Most do except for the
Old Lahaina Luau, which focuses solely on Hawaiian culture and not the surrounding Polynesian islands where fire dancing originated. This makes the
Old Lahaina Luau the most authentic luau on Maui.
How much does it cost to go to a luau on Maui?
Typically adult tickets range from $150-$275 per person. Tickets for kids 5-12 years old typically range from $100-$200, and infants from 0-4 years old are typically free.
Is it worth it to go to a luau on Maui?
A resounding, YES! Luaus are one of the best things to do in Maui. In one captivating evening you can experience the tastes of authentic Hawaiian cuisine, watch exciting performances of hula and Polynesian dance, and listen to the ecstatic beat of hula drums intermingling with wistful ukulele music that you’re unlikely to find at a resort.

Our favorite luau is the
Feast at Lele, for its delicious farm to table Hawaiian and Polynesian cuisine, authentic and exciting demonstrations of hula, and private, romantic table service making it one of the best luaus for couples. If you’re staying on the west side, this is a luau that can’t be missed. Located in Lahaina against the stunning backdrop of the
West Maui sunsets, the
Feast at Lele offers a five-course meal fit for royalty. Unlike most luaus on Maui with long lines swarming the buffet tables and open family-style seating,
Feast at Lele offers private table dining and sit-down service for just you and your party. Award winning executive chef, James McDonald, owns a farm on Maui where all the ingredients used on the menu are fresh and locally grown. The luau’s entertainment consists of hula dancers and knife and fire spinners that highlight the different islands of Polynesia. The entertainment is as diverse as the menu, representing 4 island groups that will truly enrapture you in the cuisine and cultures of Polynesia.
